Specialist Training Program - amendment
Applications for the above Commonwealth Government funded program (STP) are now open to healthcare providers, facilities or organisations that can provide training for medical specialist trainees who are pursuing a recognized fellowship program in an expanded range of settings beyond traditional public teaching hospitals (e.g. private hospitals).
Please note that the closing date for applications is 1 March 2010. All facilities currently receiving support under STP will need to re-apply for funding in 2011.

Please note that following the release of the STP on the 19 January, the Explanatory notes have been amended as follows:
Page 7, under the headings: “Applicants checklist” and “Before you begin”, the third and fourth checkboxes were amended to read:
□ The proposal has been discussed with the contact officer within the relevant state or territory health department.
□ Ensure the proposal has been discussed with the public hospital and/or Area Health Service from where the trainee will rotate and that any training partnership arrangements needed to support the proposal have been negotiated and written confirmation of their support for the post/position is included with the application.
You are reminded that all applications need to be endorsed by ANZCA as detailed in the guidelines and we would appreciate a copy of the application two weeks before the lodgment date of 1 March 2010, where possible.
